Exploring History Together: A Family Adventure on Barnhardt Circle
This weekend, my family and I decided to explore a piece of history we often pass by but never explored: Barnhardt Circle in Fort Oglethorpe. The walking history tour offered by the Fort Oglethorpe Welcome Center was the perfect mix of fun and education for all of us!
We were transported back in time as we strolled through the circle, surrounded by stunning historic homes and remnants of military barracks. Each stop brought to life stories of the soldiers who once called this place home and the city's vibrant history. My kids especially loved seeing the restored architecture and learning about the post's significance during both World Wars.
What made this tour extra special was its flexibility—you can grab a printed guide from the Welcome Center or take a virtual version. We opted for the printed guide, which included beautifully detailed maps and fun facts. It made the experience so much more interactive for my family.
Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or just looking for a family-friendly outing, this tour is a must-do. We can't wait to return and bring our friends along for the adventure!
